What can we tell you about grease traps?
A grease trap is a holder located between the restaurant drain lines and the sanitary sewer lines, which allows the separation and gathering of fats, oils and greases.
Your grease trap can either be located inside or outside of an establishment. Typically school kitchens or large restaurants
will have their grease trap/ grease interceptor located outside of the facility, usually in the ground, while facilities with smaller traps can usually house theirs indoors.
- Greatly reduce incidents of blocked drains from catering establishments
- Improve the performance of septic tanks and field drains
- Prevent contamination of small sewage treatment plants
Grease Trap Cleaning
Often found in hotels and pubs, a grease trap should be cleaned by a professional company to ensure no grease waste is causing a blockage. A Better Service can empty grease traps and replace the filters on a regular basis.
A grease trap is designed to hold back any grease waste from a kitchen so that it doesn't enter the main drainage system, therefore it is essential that grease traps are emptied regularly. Not doing so will eventually result in blockages in the drainage which can be expensive to unblock. If any of the waste was to enter a treatment plant is would result in damage to the natural micro-organisms which would cause the whole system to fail.
Pump Pit cleaning
As well as grease trap cleaning, A Better Service provide pump pit cleaning services. Pump pits (or pump chambers) are found underground and are responsible for pumping sewage into the main sewage system. These pumps however can become blocked after a period of time and need to be unblocked to prevent flooding and build up of grit and sediment. A build up of waste can also cause failure to the pump meaning it will be more expensive to repair.
A Better Service uses quality jet cleaning techniques to remove any potential blockages and will ensure your pump chamber is thoroughly cleaned for effective operation.
